Supposedly he had not paid his dues.  Apparently the mail renewal notices did not reach him, and no one tried calling. Messages leaked to Liberty for America, the News Journal of the Libertarian Political Movement, from the LNC discussion list.

Dear Colleagues:

I will place filling the current vacancy on the LNC on the agenda for our July  meeting at the same place in the agenda as the previous vacancy at the Charleston meeting.

If Lee Wrights decides to become a sustaining member again, then he would become eligible for nomination to fill the vacancy.

I thank Lee for his past service to the Committee.

Did anyone contact Mr. Wrights in any respect other then sending him notices in the mail? For personal reasons Mr. Wrights has not been receiving his mail for the last few months.  When I talked to him a few minutes ago he said that he would have happily renewed his membership had he known it had lapsed.

Taking Mr. Wrights off the LNC without making any other attempts to contact him is not right, and doing so is going to incense a good number of our members.   I thought we were looking at ways of increasing membership.  This action will result in the exact opposite.

Thank you, Julie, for mentioning this.  I was wondering about it, but just heard about it via call from a state chair.  I was just reading and digesting the listed reasoning and noticed no mention of  personal contact (phone - don't we live in the gadget age? Even Lee has a cell phone!).

This smacks of just lying in wait - frankly, "getting even" - and having the leader of the LNC chime in with no apparent investigation into this is sad.

We have all said things and become upset at one time or    another.....And, passionate persons are just that, passionate.

We need to verify such a possible oversight as actually deliberate before taking action.

Did I say it sounds very convenient?  For anyone's information, I haven't paid anything into the LP in at least 6 years. So Sully, wouldn't you just love it, except . . . I am a life member!!!  Combative or not, this is how I feel.  Go Barr! Go W.A.R.!  Rah, Rah, Rah, go pseudo libertartianism!

Based on recent information, I believe an apology should be issued to Mr. Wrights and he should be reinstated as an At-Large Representative.

I find it odd how quickly Mr. Wrights was removed from the lp.org leadership page and the LNC Discussion list.  The handling of this matter, in my opinion, should be investigated by this board.
