Your tax dollars at work: Luxury Air Force chairs!

I found this charming example of how the Air Force wants to spend our tax money in this trying post-9/11 world:

Luxury seats for the top Air Force brass!   Purchased with anti-terrorism funds!   Fortunately it sounds like this boondoggle may have run aground -- "The effort has been slowed, however, by congressional resistance to using counterterrorism funds for the project and by lengthy internal deliberations about a series of demands for modifications by Air Force generals" including changing the color for $68K.  

But it's a good reminder what happens if we don't keep a watchful eye on our wasteful government.
