Disagreement about LNC Claims about LPMass

The LNC also wrote Mary Ruwart, saying in part:

"David [Blau] has already sent me a few [corrections] and promises to do a better job of following up with new inquires (who he says the LPMA was lax in following up for the last couple years)."

Blau denies making these remarks.  He notes that he was not active in the State Committee until Fall 2007 and thus would have no way of knowing what the party had done previously. The State Committee has not changed its process in contacting inquirers over the past several years.  Each inquirer is sent an issue of the newsletter.

We continue to quote from the letter form the LNC to Mary Ruwart

"...I do not recall Carol ever complaining about not receiving dumps or inquires. When Carol moved to CT, she had me change the designated person to David Blau who is now Chair. [#3 UNTRUE.] ..."

LP National Execom Appears Bent on Destroying the LP

Guest Editorial
from Geno Canto del Halcon

[Editor: Please welcome Geno to our pages.  He refers to an email from Bill Redpath the the LNC, which we reproduce below the fold:]

The LP National Execom appears bent on destroying the LP. The LP National Execom's actions are alienating broad swaths of the membership, exacerbating wide-spread mistrust, and inflaming those who believe its all a reformist conspiracy to take over the LP and purge the membership of true libertarian radicals. However, there's another explanation: they're incompetent. They really do not comprehend the damage they are doing. Either way, we need a new set of officers, officers who believe in the pledge to not advocate the initiation of force for personal or political goals, and who actually understand how it might apply in the context of the LNC. I don't care how hard Bill Redpath thinks Lee Wrights is to get along with. The highest ranking member of the party needs to work with and within all its factions, and not insist on throwing the kids out of the sand box who occasionally throw some metaphorical sand.

We now return to the letter to Mary Ruwart and describe the facts as seen here.  They are rather different from the facts as seen in D.C.:

First a piece of the letter:

"As his own state chair can tell you (and yours BTW - Pat) - each state chair or [#1] their designated person receives a copy of all inquiries made via the web. In addition, as we explained at the state chairs conference-[#1A], they receive this in their data dumps. They simply have to look at the Bio Date Added column to determine all their new inquires and Membership date added for new members.

When George was Chair for MA, his designated person was Carol McMahon. [#2]."

LNC Motion to Keep Wrights on the LNC

General news

By phillies
Posted on Fri Apr 17, 2009 at 9:22 PM EST

National Chair Redpath rules it out of order.

"I move that: Because the Libertarian National Committee has passed no vote to remove Lee Wrights from his position as an At-Large Representative, that he remains an At-Large Representative, that his name shall be reinstated to the Libertarian Party Leadership webpage, and that his e-mail access to the Libertarian National Committee discussion list be restored."

The motion was originally offered by Regional Alternate Jake Porter, and was then endorsed by the requisite four LNC members, namely Tony Ryan, Julie Fox, Rachel Hawkridge, and Mary Ruwart.  The motion was then ruled out of order by William Redpath as Chair.  There is reason to suppose the next step will be a motion to appeal the decision of the Chair.

Supposedly he had not paid his dues.  Apparently the mail renewal notices did not reach him, and no one tried calling. Messages leaked to Liberty for America, the News Journal of the Libertarian Political Movement, from the LNC discussion list.
